Yes, it seems that Eric ‘Master of Disguise’ Northman has a sizable chip on his shoulder about his favourite snack daring to be a tad unhappy about being snacked on. The humans have weapons that extend beyond sunlight and stakes? How dare they! Clearly, Mr Northman could do with brushing up on his history. War has been a favourite pastime of humanity since we crawled out of the ocean – we are the species that invented nuclear weapons, after all. We take killing others in the name of moral superiority very, very seriously, we’re hella good at it, and most importantly, we are not to be trusted. Does he not watch the news? If it’s war he wants, it’s war he’ll get – and in a way he never thought possible. Forget how much humans as a species like war, it’s the species known as politicians that he needs to be worried about – they like it even more. Apparently, Eric is desperate for a fight of any kind, given that in addition to taunting the politician in control of True Blood production, he’s also hell-bent on finding a way to destroy Billeth, the vamp that can drain you with his/her mind. While the political manoeuvrings of the fang-hating governor and its – as seen by Billeth – possible crimes of war consequences is one of the more interesting components of this season so far, the vamp demi god thing is one of the components that verges on the ridiculous. Aside from Bill’s couldn’t have been more vague conversation with Lilith – complete with visible merkin in case you were in any doubt as to who she was – his/her new-found psychic powers and Sookie-style empathy for his fellow fangs is matched only by Andy’s awful speech to an empty field for cheesy oddness. And they only just beat large parts of the new faery’s utterings for ridiculousness.
